Set in the centre of the beautiful South West Norfolk region in the delightfully quiet village of Barton Bendish, nestles The Spread Eagle. We offer exceptional hospitality and deliver the very best in food, drink, accommodation and service that has made us popular with locals and visitors alike. The Spread Eagle is a traditional village inn, with tons of character and charm.With an atmosphere that makes you feel at home, with real ales, a good selection of lagers, cider, stout, wines, spirits and soft drinks, reason enough to visit; we also provide sumptuous, meals using only the best fresh local produce and comfortable accommodation too. Food is served Lunch Times Thursday to Saturday 12:00 - 14:30 Evenings Monday to Saturday 18:30 to 21:30h, Sunday 12:00 to 19:00h and guests can choose from the broad selection on the menu. Our meals offer a blend of the best of modern cuisine; from traditional British dishes with a twist and sumptuous steaks cooked just the way you like them through to lighter snacks at lunchtime. Our kitchen team take the finest of local ingredients, wherever possible, to create mouth-watering, modern British dishes that will keep you coming back for more our menu changes monthly to reflect the local seasonal produce available throughout the year. We offer a choice of two restaurants one room that is suitable for larger parties on our large round table, the other offering an intimate fine dining experience, decorated in keeping with the character of the building, with `bria-brac' and wall plates. Our crackling log fires will warm you in the winter whilst in the summer, meals can be enjoyed outdoors in the large cottage garden.Our comfortable accommodation is available with en-suite facilities and is furnished to provide for a pleasant and restful stay. The Mansion House is thought to have been built as early as 1581, although its style is that of a Queen Anne period house(1702-1714). It is best known as the birth place of Norman Angell Lane (Nobel peace prize winner of 1933)who was born in this his family home in 1872. This fine historic building was restored in 2005 to the beautiful hotel it is today. We offer a high standard of accommodation, food, service and varied selection of beverages. We are conveniently situated in the centre of the small town of Holbeach and centrally placed for visitors to the fens. The Hotel offers a stunning venue for a wedding, christening, anniversary or special event. 
Welcome to our Georgian house which dates from the mid 1700Â’s. All our bedrooms are en-suite with recently refitted shower/bathrooms, direct dial telephones, welcome tray, hair dryer & trouser press and complimentary mineral water & sweets. A short, pleasant walk across a meadow or roadside footpath takes you to the small market town of Swaffham (Market day Saturday) and a choice of restaurants. Our patio looks over our garden with listed trees and a good selection of wild birds (an occasional owl). Indoors we have an intimate bar with traditional table top games and a bright and airy breakfast room.
We are a grade 2 Listed family run Guethouse overlooking the Wash and Norfolk coastline next door to RSPB nature reserve Freiston Shore and in the middle of two other reserves, Frampton and Gibralter Point. The building itself is full of history with old beams and has a charm all of its own, being a former coach house and then converted to a Georgian hotel in the 1770's by Mr Plummer, hence the name. The Pilgrim fathers left from a point just 2 miles down the coast which is marked today and can be visited. We are close to all historic fenland towns and make an ideal base for walking, cycling, fishing, birding, shopping as well as eating and sampling the local pubs. We also try to encourage business users who wish to stay and want a break from larger group hotels. We are a family run establishment and have good reviews for our friendly and welcoming approach as well as our food. We accept pets and welcome all no matter who you are. Regarding food, it is all home cooked and freshly prepared so we only ask that you look at our menu and book in advance for your first nights meal. We try our best to cater for people with special requirements but do need to know what they are. We are not licensed so please feel free to bring your own. We will do our best to accommodate disabled people and have done in the past, but the building itself is not best suited for some. Why not come and stay and enjoy a countryside retreat. Polite notice. We are a 4 Star Guesthouse [NOT A 4 STAR HOTEL] This is reflected in our prices. The regulatory body changed it from diamonds to stars something we do not agree with, please go to visit britain where the guidlines are set out for further information. The building is 300 years old and has old beams the floors slope, the doors to the rooms are listed due to their age, the walls are not straight or perfect, the ceilings slope and the hard to maintain windows are listed. This is not a Modern Perfect Building. Sorry this is the way the building is, we did not build it this way. But we maintain this old treasure as well as we can and like many of our customers we love the building. We are a friendly husband and wife team who do ALL the work that is required no staff are employed. We offer a friendly and informal service and will always help in any way we can with any needs.
